Amsterdam GF
Today, I'm taking you on a gluten-free adventure through the vibrant city of Amsterdam. Whether you're a teen like me or just young at heart, get ready to explore some mouthwatering eats that are 100% celiac safe. Let's dive in!
Breakfast Bliss at Hilton Amsterdam
First stop: Hilton Amsterdam. Trust me, there's nothing like waking up to a celiac-safe breakfast buffet that dreams are made of. The Hilton Amsterdam has got you covered with an array of fresh fruits, crisp vegetables, and a delightful selection of cheeses. But that's not all! You can also order a gluten-free vegetable omelet or a fried egg from the menu, and it will be cooked on a clean pan just for you. It's the perfect way to start your day on a high note.
Pancake Heaven at Pancakes Amsterdam
Next up, breakfast or lunch at Pancakes Amsterdam! This place is a must-visit with multiple locations all over the city, making it super convenient. They have a dedicated gluten-free menu—just ask your waiter. The best part? Your pancakes will come out with a cute Dutch flag to signify they are celiac safe. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet like Nutella, strawberries, bananas, meringue, and chocolate sauce, or savory ingredients like chicken and veggies, Pancakes Amsterdam has it all. These pancakes are so delicious and authentic, you won't believe they’re gluten-free!
De Italiaan: Pizza Perfection
For dinner, head over to De Italiaan for some of the most delicious gluten-free pizza you'll ever taste. Pair it with a fresh salad, and you've got yourself a perfect meal. After dinner, treat yourself to some gelato at Miuz Gelato, which is just a short 7-8 minute walk away. This place is a dedicated gluten-free gelateria, cones included! Enjoy authentic Italian gelato in a gluten-free cone or indulge in some frozen tiramisu. It’s a dessert lover’s paradise!
Foodhallen: A World of Gluten-Free Delights
Looking for a lunch spot with endless options? Foodhallen is your answer. This indoor food market offers an array of snacks and meals from around the world—Mexican, Vietnamese, Japanese, American, Greek, crepes, bakeries, you name it! The celiac-safe standout here is Fento. I devoured their chicken nachos, and they were phenomenal. The owner has celiac, so they know exactly how to prepare safe, gluten-free food. Almost everything on their menu is naturally gluten-free, so eat up without worry!
Italian Excellence at Cafe Piazza
For your next dinner, head to Cafe Piazza for an authentic Italian experience. They have a dedicated gluten-free menu and take special care with your order. You'll get a dedicated set of plates and a special napkin to indicate your celiac needs. The gluten-free cacio e pepe pasta is to die for—soft, flavorful, and just like the real deal. Start with some GF bruschetta or a sauerkraut-meat dish, and finish with tiramisu or a chocolate lava cake for dessert. Yum!
Fabel Friets: French Fries Snack
If you find yourself wandering the streets of Amsterdam in need of a snack, Fabel Friets has got your back. Their French fries are gluten-free and cooked in dedicated oil, with most of their sauces being GF as well. The parmesan truffle fries are especially popular—there’s usually a line out the door! Just double-check with the staff to avoid the two gluten-containing sauces.
Craft Coffee and Pastry Bakery: The Gluten-Free Gem
Last but certainly not least, the gluten-free gem of Amsterdam: Craft Coffee and Pastry bakery. This dedicated gluten-free bakery is nothing short of a dream come true. I had my first-ever croissant here—almond, chocolate, or plain, they’re all warm, soft, flaky, buttery, and simply amazing. They also offer loaves of bread, baguettes, muffins, Dutch butter cakes, mini pies, stroopwafels, and cookies. It’s the best gluten-free bakery I’ve visited, hands down.
So there you have it, folks! Amsterdam is a treasure trove of gluten-free goodness, and I hope this guide helps you navigate it with ease. Safe travels and happy eating!
